Junior Girl’s Softball League

Swing batter batter swing! The Junior Girls Softball League offers four different leagues for girl’s ages 8 to 18 years old. This is a recreational league where focus is on teaching and learning softball skills, player participation, being a part of a team and sportsmanship. Girls of all skill levels and experience are invited to join in the tradition. Games are played twice a week (two week nights) with an occasionally Saturday game. We hope to see you out on the Diamond!

Volunteers needed: Volunteer coaches, team sponsors, and umpires are needed.

Registration: January 1 - February (Late registration after February will be based on availability)
- A registration day will be held Saturday, January 7 at DICK's Sporting Good Store at the Centre of Salisbury from 11am - 2pm. Anyone who registers onsite will receive store coupons and be entered in a chance to win a DICK's gift certificate
Program Fee:
- Pre-Minor - $35 (After February 20 fee will increase to $40)
- Minor, Major I & II - $45 (After February 20 fee will increase to $50)
- Each team is required to pay a team entrance fee; Pre-Minor & Minor teams $225 and Major teams $250. Sponsors are obtained to help cover these costs.
Age Group: Girls ages 8 – 18 years old. League is divided into four age divisions:
- Pre-Minor 10 & under (9/1/01 - 8/31/04)
- Minor 12 & under (9/1/99 - 8/31/01)
- Major I 14 & under (9/1/97 - 8/31/99)
- Major II 18 & under (9/1/93 - 8/31/97)
Date(s): Season begins in May and runs till the end of June. Opening Day for Pre-Minor and Minor leagues is Saturday, May 5 at Optimist Park. Major league will begin games as early as May 1.
- Pre-Minor – Tuesday & Thursday, some Saturdays
- Minor – Monday & Wednesday, some Saturdays
- Major – Monday through Thursdays
Time(s): Evening games begin at 6 pm.
Location(s): Optimist Park, Winterplace Park, Henry Parker Complex, Billy Gene Jackson, Harmon, Winterplace Park, Fruitland, Pittsville, and Hebron
Details: All players will be contacted by the end of March. Participants must have their own glove, all other equipment will be provided. Players may play up a division, but are not permitted to play down.
Team Placement

Pre-Minor & Minor leagues – Girls are split onto teams according to the school they attend, elementary school region in which they live, or the neighborhood in which they live. Teams will begin practice end of March/early April, practices are scheduled by the team coach.

Major leagues – A draft will be held between the coaches, and all players will be selected and paced on a team. Returning players will be placed on the same tem as the year before unless the player wishes to be placed in the draft and selected by another team. Teams will begin practice end of March/early April, practices are scheduled by the team coach.

Youth Volleyball for Girls and Boys

Two programs are offered, allowing instructional time and play for children from 1st grade through high school to learn the game of volleyball.
